SUBJECT MATTER

I study narratives, stories, and discourses as they relate to conflict transformation.

I am currently researching the following as sites of narrative transformation:

  • Music (incl. punk rock, folk, folk rock)

  • Literary craft (e.g., craft essays)

  • Worldbuilding (both as literary technique and conflict transformation practice)

My ongoing projects include the following:

  • “Building Muslim and Non-Muslim Songworlds in the Post-9/11 Era” (dissertation, in progress)

  • “Imagining Democracy’s Future: The Speculative Democracy Workshops” (with Thomas Flores, working paper, in progress)

I primarily take the following theoretical approaches to the study of conflict transformation:

  • Narrative approaches (incl. literary studies)

  • Music and sound studies

  • Affect theory
